In honor of the City of Olean’s Bicentennial, this year’s Hottest Week has been renamed Bicentennial Celebration Week. The Week is July 23 - 31 with sidewalk sales, crafters, entertainment and more. For those wishing to be a vendor for the sidewalk sales on North Union Street, please contact the City Building by email to ksweet@cityofolean.org.

One year from now, Olean will be in the midst of its 200th birthday and a committee of community members have been planning this historical memorial for months. While Olean’s Bicentennial will be celebrated in 2004 with a variety of activities throughout the year, there will be a concentration of events from July 23 through August 1. EDIT: Good News ! The archivists at St. Bonaventure University Library have given us a copy of Oleanorama, the edited version, no less. Special thanks to Dr. Paul Spaeth, Lorraine Welsh, and Joan Hill. And thank you to all who
tried to find it for us.
The recipes are coming in now and we are very grateful. Keep them coming, along with old photos. Mail your recipes to: Bicentennial Committee, Box 20, 315 Main St., Olean, NY 14760.
Olean will celebrate its 200th anniversary in 2004 and many community members are working diligently to create a terrific year-long celebration to recognize this milestone. The Olean Point Guild is the organizing body for the City's Bicentennial and we invite you to join in the planning!
